Canterbury's Medieval Pageant

We have curated the  Medieval Pageant since 2016, commissioning a script, music and community art which commemorates the public apology by Henry ll in Canterbury in 1174. This year (2019) we are concentrating more on the amazing Eleanor of Aquitaine.Working with Canterbury Bid, the Cathedral Archive, schools, community groups and universities we will explore the story of Henry 2nd's penance in 1174 seen through Eleanor's eyes. She was Queen of England and mother of 3 Kings, an extraordinary and powerful character who reputedly helped bring chivalry and justice to her world.

Big Bash works with makers, musicians, actors, dancers and scriptwriters to make this Pageant a vibrant community event and part of a Medieval Festival which promises to grow year on year.
